With Gene Hackman and Dan Aykroyd heading the cast of this fast-moving cop comedy, one's expectations should be high, so that only makes the disappointment deeper. Shamelessly pinching bits from such vastly better films as Beverly Hills Cop, Midnight Run and Lethal Weapon 2, director Bob Clark has created something both derivative and plain daft. The high point is Aykroyd's performance as a loopy cop with multiple personalities. Hackman, as his gruff partner, should have stayed at home. No wonder it went straight to the video shop shelves in this country.
