Max Cady (Robert De Niro) is a maniac with a mission- - to exact his revenge on the lawyer (Nick Nolte) who suppressed evidence that would have saved him from 14 years in jail. Cady traps the daughter (Juliette Lewis), menaces the wife (Jessica Lange) and finally catches up with the whole family on a houseboat in a storm. Martin Scorsese crams his stonking remake of the 1962 thriller with great shocks, De Niro is unimagiinably evil and there are amusing cameos by stars from the original -- Robert Mitchum, Gregory Peck and Martin Balsam.

Whoever that retard is that wrote the last review should be shot. Cape fear confirmed De Niro's status as one of the best actors of all time, you say??? Well, I saw Godfather II, The Deer Hunter, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull. All before this film. Watch those films and then watch Cape Fear again. Yes, it is a good performance. It would be an excellent performance from a mediocre actor, but De Niro is a sublime actor and by his standards, this is just a little better than Meet the Parents.

This film is one that secured Robert DeNiro's title as one of the best actors of all time, he is brilliant as Max Cady a homicidal maniac seeking revenge against the lawyer who unsuccessfully defended him. With an outstanding supporting cast this film is quite possibly DeNiro's best film of the 90's and Martin Scorsese's. I love it .
