The conclusion of Sergio Leone's mighty (but mighty long) saga of American gangster life contains a final confrontation as elongated as those gunfights with which Leone used to punctuate his spaghetti Westerns, and a 'surprise' ending that will surprise few who have stuck it out through the previous four and half hours. Very doomy, very stylish, with early roles for such blue-collar character roles as Joe Pesci, Burt Young and Danny Aiello.
