Singles tells the story of a loosely knit band of friends and neighbours who live in an apartment building in Seattle, and dream of love.

All in their 20s they share the same predicament - the problem of finding a match between someone you like, and someone who likes you.

The Seattle music scene is the backdrop for this tale of single twentysomethings trying to find themselves and each other in the 1990s.

Linda (Sedgwick) and Steve (Scott) meet in a club and begin to play the dating game where they wonder who will telephone the other? and how long should the other wait before calling back?

Janet (Fonda) has a thing for Cliff (Dillon), who barely acknowledges her existence. He is a drummer in a rock band, with a deliberately laid-back indifference to women in general and Fonda in particular.

Written and directed by Cameron Crowe, the film tackles the ups and downs of romance with humour and honesty.

With most people finding themselves in similar situations at some point in their life, it's easy to relate to the dilemmas of these characters.
