As always, the hugely likeable Whoopi Goldberg gives 110 per cent in this daffy, engaging fantasy-comedy. She plays a computer researcher hurled back in time and place (to Ye Olde England's Camelot), along with her lap-top and modern ideas, in one more spin across Mark Twain's much-filmed classic A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court. Though cheap-looking, with the special effects clearly done on a low budget, this romp is very amusing in places. Among the jolly cast, Ian Richardson makes his usual six-course banquet out of Merlin, though Michael York isn't a natural King Arthur and the spirited Amanda Donohoe has the boring end of things as Queen Guinevere.
