The Beautician and the Beast

A beautician is mistakenly hired as a tutor for the children of an Eastern European dictator after she is hailed a heroine in her native New York. Fran - Connie in Saturday Night Fever - Drescher plays the do-gooder who tries to westernise the whole country while former Bond star Timothy Dalton is the cartoon tyrant whose not too happy about this state of affairs.

A mildly entertaining romantic comedy that's loosely based on the classic fairy tale Beauty and The Beast.

Here the story begins in New York where beautician Joy (Fran Drescher) becomes a local heroine after rescuing her students and many animals from a fire.

This leads to her being offered a job in a (fictional) East European country, teaching the children of the despotic dictator (former Bond star Timothy Dalton).

This is so-so stuff, but it was modestly popular at the time.
