A mainly dull and sanitised treatment of a grim but familiar theme almost redeemed by a devastating twist ending. Claire Danes and Kate Beckinsale are backpackers duped by a charismatic Australian into ferrying drugs from Thailand to Hong Kong. Sacrificed to the authorities while 'genuine' couriers escape scot-free, the girls find themselves sentenced to 33 years. Subsequent developments as lawyer Bill Pullman fights to save them are, despite 100 per cent from the two actresses, somewhat less than riveting.
