Based on a true story of a college student who overcame all obstacles to foster nine homeless boys when he was barely out of college in the early 1960s. Playing a college friend is Michelle Pfeiffer, in one of her earliest roles. She later won a nationwide talent contest to land the role of the Pink Lady in Grease 2 before playing Al Pacino's bride in Scarface and sharing top billing in John Landis' Into the Night. Her character tells this story in flashbacks, with Judith Penrod providing the narrative voice of her character.
