Part of the directing team that also includes Robert Pulcini, they won plaudits for the loose biopic American Splendor starring Paul Giamatti.
They first began their collaboration at Columbia University Graduate Film School where their award-wining documentary Off the Menu: The Last Days of Chasens was named one of the best 10 movies of 1998 by CNN.
They followed it up with the non-fiction The Young and the Dead, which premiered at the 2000 Venice Film Festival.
Their first narrative feature - American Splendor - told the story of grumpy cartoon writer Harvey Pekar, played by Giamatti.
