The youngster is landing ever more impressive roles in a series of movies ranging from Bridge To Terabithia to Firehouse Dog.
The youngster caught the acting bug early and pestered his parents until they signed him up with an agency in Cincinnati and brought in an acting coach.
Hutcherson subsequently moved to Los Angeles and landed in role in ER and then played Peter Falk's son in the TV movie Wilder Days.
He subsequently landed a minor role in the indie hit American Splendor and performed for the motion-capture imagery in Robert Zemeckis' Polar Express.
In 2005, he landed a minor role in the Will Ferrell comedy Kicking & Screaming and voiced Markl in the animated feature Howl's Moving Castle.
He also appeared in Little Manhattan alongside his brother Connor and in the action yarn Zathura: A Space Adventure.
The following year, Hutcherson appeared in the comedy RV, playing the son of accident-prone dad Robin Williams.
The role of Jesse Aarons in the impressive children's film Bridge To Terabithia landed him and co-star AnnaSophia Robb good notices.
Recent work includes the children's comedy Firehouse Dog, in which he played a firefighter's son, alongside Bruce Greenwood.
