Doris Day involved in the world of James Bond provides just the results one would expect - an entertaining spy spoof, with the accent on hectic chases and satire on gimmickry. The director is Frank Tashlin, who also made 'The Glass Bottom Boat' with the star. Here he puts her through some pretty lively paces as a reluctant industrial spy at large in the world of cosmetics. Highlights include a silent comedy-style chase through many doors; a new formula for eye-shadow, the preparations of which are like something out of Frankenstein's laboratory; and Doris' confounding of a 'bugged' sugar lump, by a dextrous mixture of spoon-banging, crisp-crunching, water-pouring, Alka Setzer-fizzing and watch-winding. Richard Harris is wondrously miscast but swims gamely against the tide as a Rock Hudson-type hero. The film was a flop and put the skids under Day's long-glittering comedy career.
