Suspicion

Cast against type, Cary Grant is a creepily charming fortune-hunter who woos heiress Joan Fontaine (winning an Oscar) into marriage but she soon suspects he wants to kill her. Alfred Hitchcock 's romantic thriller is splendidly tense and teasing - and perfectly acted. The studio-enforced ending's a slight letdown but the film's still a masterly entertainment.
