A comedy Western of great charm, mainly because of its two stars. James Stewart and Henry Fonda are the two wandering cowboys who rub their hands in glee at the prospect of inheriting The Cheyenne Social Club, and then rub their heads in despair as they discover the truth that the Club is the town's bordello. There's some nice exchanges of dialogue between Stewart and Fonda, especially during their long trek to Cheyenne, but director Gene Kelly flexes fewer muscles than he perhaps should to make this gentle entertainment a bit more dynamic.
