Donald Sutherland plays a loyal Politburo member in communist-controlled Poland who suddenly has all his privileges taken away for no apparent reason, in this rather dated-looking drama. With the Iron Curtain down, such films now seem a little old hat. The script is bland and there's a lack of tension in the direction that may make you lose interest in the story. Sutherland, so often the best thing in his films just lately, is good, as is Paul Freeman as his best friend. But everyone else loses their battle with the poor dialogue they've been given.
