Well, it's not as funny as Part Un, that's for sure. But there are so many attempted gags in this Hollywood spoof that some of them are bound to hit your particular funnybone.
Topper Harley (Charlie Sheen) is back, sent in by a demented US president (Lloyd Bridges) to get the men who went in to get the men who went in to get the men taken captive by Iraq.
There's a remarkable Saddam Hussein lookalike as a lisping villain and mostly weak take-offs of other movies. Sheen, all beefed up as Rambo the Second, keeps a straight face throughout, although Valeria Golino has the best lines, delivered beautifully deadpan.
It seems that she is shot at the climax, but no: her lucky Topper charm has stopped the bullet. 'My God,' says Sheen, 'I thought you were ... ' 'Gabriela Sabatini? ' she replies. 'Yes, I know, it happens all the time.'
There are subtle jokes (though not many) Background jokes, lavatorial jokes (lots of these), non-stop to the final credits that assure us that 'Prosthetic animals were used where necessary'.
They're pot shots rather than hot shots, but comedy fans are guaranteed a chuckle or two.
