You would have to be a pretty special lady to get your former lovers to cough up for your son's expensive eye operation, but the lovely Sophia Loren fits the bill very believably in the central role of this Italian/French TV movie. Her real-life son Edoardo Ponti makes his acting debut as the son of the beautiful, cash-strapped Aurora, trying to track down former lovers and trick them into financing the boy's surgery. Daniel J Travanti took a little holiday from Hill Street Blues to appear as one of the lad's potential fathers, while other big names include French star Philippe (Cinema Paradiso) Noiret, Anna Strasberg (widow of Lee) and Ricky Tognazzi (son of veteran Italian actor Ugo Tognazzi). And in a small role, look out for Loren's niece, the politician Alessandra Mussolini (granddaughter of Il Duce), playing a bride. Not a lot to say about the story itself: it's just a light, fluffy star vehicle for a universally popular actress.
