Gena Rowlands and Tyne Daly give some acting depth to this tale of a friendship between two completely different women. Pat (Rowlands) is a wealthy woman whose husband dies, leaving massive debts which could leave her destitute. She befriends Dollie (Daly) a bag lady who lives on the streets. Rowlands is good but Daly is even better, sharp and gritty as the lady tramp. Something a little different and worth watching for the central performances alone: they lend conviction to an unlikely story.
