This is a must for all Mario Lanza fans. In this rags to riches story of a vineyard worker who becomes an opera star Lanza sings no less than 15 songs. The plot? Oh, it's your basic musical job: wealthy woman (Joan Fontaine) discovers Lanza and says she can make him a star. He falls for her but she ditches him and his burgeoning career goes down the tubes. But of course the love of a good woman - Juana (Sarita Montiel), a girl he meets in Mexico - gets him back on his feet. All pretty predictable, really, but that doesn't matter: it's the singing that counts and Lanza is in fine voice here, in his last major studio musical.
