A vigorous comedy-musical vehicle for Gracie Fields, then Britain's highest-paid film star. There are hints of the Ealing Studios comedies to come in the plot (based on a story by J B Priestley) and one or two good songs for Gracie to trill, including Love Is Everywhere. Vivien Leigh has a good role as Gracie's influential friend in her battles against ambitious Lancashire businessmen. Supposed to be the film in which Kenneth More made his screen debut: spot him if you can.
