A strikingly handsome locomotive steals the attention from such hard men of the screen as Clint Eastwood, Robert Duvall, John Saxon and Don Stroud in this typical Eastwood kill-them-all-and-come-back-alone Western. It's directed for once not by Eastwood himself but by the redoubtable John Sturges, who also made Bad Day at Black Rock and The Magnificent Seven.
