Long, elaborate, fairly faithful adaptation of A J Cronin's novel of a priest's adventures in China, which proved to be Gregory Peck's first major screen hit. The acting from a fine cast is solid and the story, which has some touching moments (and some exciting ones too), just about grips attention throughout.
