The second Katharine Hepburn-Spencer Tracy film, and a very serious affair compared with the gaiety of their first, Woman of the Year. This is a straight dramatic story about famous people with feet of clay and has been understandably neglected in favour of the comedies the famous pair made together. Its subject, fascism in America, dates it, but, despite a muddled and melodramatic storyline, the strength of the stars' personalities sees it through.
