This well made drama is really four stories in one, the link being that the four main characters are all on a plane together. Shelley Winters is an ex-stripper who has tried to get into a Broadway musical; Michael Rennie is a doctor consumed with guilt after killing three people in a car accident; Keenan Wynn is a blustering salesman who waxes lyrical about his wife; and Gary Merrill is a lawyer whose wife is about to desert him. The plane hits bad weather and crashes, but to tell you more would be to spoil the various tales. Fine performances from the cast and an excellent script from Nunnally Johnson make this one to watch. Look out for Bette Davis in a small but telling role - she's on top form.
