This old-fashioned heart-tugger provides a pleasing custom-made role for Ann-Margret as a beautiful middle-aged Swedish-born woman (a bit typecast there! ) who marries at 16, goes to the States, and lives 35 years with a brutish husband who dies leaving her penniless. This turns out to be the salvation of our heroine, who promptly starts a new life. Age hasn't withered the 53-year-old A-M, though her co-star George Segal hasn't got quite the same old spring in his step. This sweet and bouncy TV movie is only a trifle, maybe, but then sometimes a well-concocted trifle is just what you fancy from the menu.
