Faye Dunaway adds tremendous emotional force to this Canadian drama as a mother facing the fact that her beloved eldest son was involved in the gang rape of a young girl. A model wife and mother, she is further horrified when her husband plans to cover up their son's involvement in the brutal assault. As the title informs us, the family is thus tragically divided. A melodramatic mix of violence, sex and deception is the result, but whenever Dunaway is on the screen, it's worth watching.
