We're back in 'Mad Max' country again with this leaden futuristic actioner. Loosely allegorical - a post-nuclear and biological holocaust has destroyed the ozone layer and a terrible AIDS-like plague is wiping out mankind - this is not only illogical but in dubious taste and but for the redoubtable James Brolin as one of two potential saviours of the human race (the other is Bryan Genesse) would not have climbed into the two-star category. People run around like chickens without heads, explosions are obviously rigged charges and the battle scenes are terribly disorganised; perfunctory soft-core sex sequences with vacuous, lip-glossed blondes occasionally provide a different kind of boredom.
