Up front crime thriller with caperish elements, this is very much of its era - heady and irresponsible. Anthony Quinn is excellent in the lead as a retired mobster who is kidnapped by a quartet of hedonistic hipsters which includes Faye Dunaway in her movie debut. There's a sense of danger as the 'prank' begins to get out of hand and that's what gives the film its stylish edge and its place in the canon of films which espoused the 'philosophy of non-responsibility'. Directed by Elliot Silverstein who was responsible for another recidivist film a year earlier - 'Cat Ballou'.
