Hope Floats

After her wrecked marriage is announced on national TV by her cheating best friend, divorcee Birdee (Sandra Bullock) returns to her Texan hometown to face the barbs of former friends who once thought her too good to be true. Fortunately, her old buddy Justin (Harry Connick Jr) provides a shoulder to cry on. The Last King of Scotland star stays behind the camera to direct this sweet-natured romance.

Executive produced by Sandra Bullock and unashamedly contrived as a vehicle for the talents of one S Bullock, this is a romantic drama about a former beauty Queen of Corn.

Dumped by her husband on national TV, she returns to her mother (Gena Rowlands) and her home town to make a new life for herself and her little daughter.

Her old boyfriend Harry Connick Jr is still there, and still in love with her...

OK, the plot's corny and a bit syrupy sweet but entertaining nonetheless.

This is a real Sunday afternoon treat. Very funny and a tear jerker. Enjoyed the music so much I bought the CD.
