This early Hitchcock thriller marks the real beginning of his obsession with trains as settings for suspense. There's a first-rate rail and car chase sequence dazzlingly photographed by Jack Cox, and skilfully edited, at the end of a story about jewel thieves hiding out in a deserted railwayside house. The production is very set bound and the trains are like a kid's toy set, but that's all part of the movie's charm.
