One of the most exhilarating of all Hollywood musicals, with a clutch of performances as nearly perfect as one could wish to see. Doris Day - who else more fitted to the part of Babe Williams? - gives a more extrovert performance than one would have thought possible. The score includes such hits as Hey There, The Pajama Game, Once a Year Day, I'm Not at All in Love and the spirited Day-John Raitt duet There Once Was a Man, one of the best performed musical numbers of all time. Like the film, it's enormous fun.
