One of the earliest Ealing Studios films, a talkative but beguiling comedy-thriller with Gordon Harker in good form as the bookie who leads the pub `regulars' in their bid to clear the barmaid's boyfriend of a murder charge. Good pub atmosphere and well written script by two of Ealing's most reliable and unsung scribes, Angus Macphail and John Dighton.
