Hush... Hush, Sweet Charlotte

A splendidly macabre film thriller (the same director's follow-up to What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? ) that commits viewers to sit chewing their fingernails for more than two hours. Bette Davis and Olivia de Havilland are admirably enigmatic; and Agnes Moorehead too makes an indelible mark on the film as a weird housekeeper. Watch for Bruce Dern (as the murder victim at the start) and George Kennedy, both taking early film roles.
