Frank Sinatra lends his own touch of moody melancholy to an involving musical remake of the 1938 John Garfield-Priscilla Lane film Four Daughters, based on Fannie Hurst's once famous novel. Sinatra plays Barney Sloan, a loner who thinks he's a loser and whose grudge against the world isn't settled even when he falls for Laurie Tuttle (an ideally cast and on-form Doris Day sporting a new 'bubble' hairdo), a homely girl from a small Connecticut town. Some lovely songs include Someone to Watch Over Me, Just One of Those Things, One for My Baby and Young at Heart.
