Charm, humour and sentiment blend well in this George Arliss vehicle which casts the old Thespian as a wily shoe-manufacturing magnate who decides to teach a bumptious nephew a lesson by going into competition with his own firm. Armed with a good script by Charles Kenyon and Maud Powell, Arliss allows himself to unbend enough to create a sympathetic, believable and amusing old fox who has fun improving other people's lives. A young (and blonde) Bette Davis is the girl his nephew loves.
