A cosmopolitan cast was assembled for this screen adaptation of Morris West's novel, but the film was never shown in British cinemas. It's a political thriller, set largely in Rome and Milan, with Franco Nero leading the investigation into the murder of a neo-fascist aristocrat. Reliable character actor Martin Balsam is Nero's partner, and among the famous faces they cross-examine are Eli Wallach, Christopher Lee, Anthony Quinn and Claudia Cardinale.
