With Raquel Welch as a female Clint Eastwood clad only in poncho and gunbelt, Ernest Borgnine, Jack Elam and Strother Martin virtually eating the scenery as the villains, and Robert Culp as a sardonic bounty hunter, this Western seemed to have it made. But its story, though riddled with fierce action, just never seems to get going. Stephen Boyd makes an unbilled appearance as a mysterious character called The Preacher and bizarre guest shots by Christopher Lee and Diana Dors heighten the air of unreality. Director Burt Kennedy must carry most of the can for the sluggish pace and the failure to make the most of his extraordinary cast. A major disappointment.
