Made originally as The Border - USA, this is a hard-hitting action film highlighting the unlawful smuggling of cheap Mexican labour across the Mexican/American border. It attempts to expose the corrupt element in the American border police (here in the form of a Commander played by screen veteran Eddie Albert) that lets traffickers get away with it. Telly Savalas stars as a very different lawman from the lollipop-sucking crook-seeker he portrayed in Kojak; he's a rugged US patrolman whose refusal of bribery has led to his transfer from the city to no-man's-land which separates Mexico and the United States. Danny De La Paz, the young actor who made such an impression in Boulevard Nights and Cuba, plays the friend who finally drives Savalas to take sides - and action - by his involvement in the refugee racket.
