A rousing if rudimentary Warner Bros Western with a central character called Kern Shafter (they don't make up names like that any more), who re-enlists in the Cavalry after being dishonourably discharged. Ray Milland is suitably impassive as the wronged cavalryman, and the encounters between white man and Indian whip up some traditional excitement. Forrest Tucker gives Milland rugged support, while Hugh Marlowe tries hard to be villainous, in a switch from his usual good guy role (and has an excellent fight at the end with our hero). Helena Carter is an extremely pretty, if otherwise nebulous heroine, and George Reeves, screen portrayer of Superman in the Fifties, can be spotted looking virile as Lt Smith.
