A fairly shallow piece that fails to move the viewer, as four men mourn the passing of their friend, Braverman. Sidney Lumet's weakly structured film, which fails to pass muster as a decent comedy of any kind. And, filled as it is with unsuccessful Jewish jokes, it could easily offend some people. The four main characters (played without conviction by George Segal, Sorrell Booke, Joseph Wiseman and Jack Warden) are not well-rounded, nor particularly likeable. Furthermore, the interest that Braverman's widow (Jessica Walter) takes in Segal is not developed sufficiently to interest us. Bury this one with the hero.
