A saboteur is carrying a plague on board the Trans-Continental Express in a disaster movie that always rattles along with a sense of urgency. The script runs the full gamut of Hollywood clichés and there's the usual assortment of typical Hollywood caricatures. But there's a very good cast headed by a serious Burt Lancaster as an Intelligence colonel, Greek director George Pan Cosmatos keeps the suspense on the rails and most parts of the journey are thrilling. Sophia Loren, Richard Harris and Ava Gardner co-star.
