There's lots of winningly-realised fun and games in this Disney comedy, a sort of close encounter of the furred kind as the alien moggy of the title foils a space-energy spy plot with the help of the powers that emanate from his illuminated collar. The film benefits enormously from the relationship between the wisecracking (talking) cat and the eccentric doctor (sympathetically played by Ken Berry) who becomes his sidekick. Roddy McDowall is rather too far over the top as the bad guy, but more laid-back support comes from Sandy Duncan, Harry Morgan, Jesse White, Alan Young and Hans Conried.
