This comic western is a sort of live-action equivalent of the cartoon series featuring The Road Runner and his disaster-prone adversary Wile E Coyote. Here it's Kirk Douglas as the inept outlaw of the title whose attempts to stop the hero (Arnold Schwarzenegger) and heroine (Ann-Margret) from getting some vital cash to its destination only rebound on himself. Paul Lynde and Robert Tessier score as two Indians called Anxious Elk and Nervous Beaver, while the director of the farcical mayhem is comedy-action specialist Hal Needham, whose previous films include Hooper and Smokey and the Bandit. Here one could do without his attempts to 'lift' the comedy with quick-motion sequences when one would have thought editing skills would have sufficed.
