A Hollywood director (Jacques Tourneur) and star (Ray Milland) add edge and polish to this quite intriguing British thriller about a man trying to clear his brother of dark wartime deeds. Although a little slow, it builds solidly to a climax that doesn't entirely convince. Still backing up Milland, there's a fine British cast that includes Patricia Roc, Marius Goring and Naunton Wayne. Down the cast list, in a small role is a young Dora Bryan.
