The screenplay of this brooding drama, adapted from Eugene O'Neill's play, is by Irwin Shaw, who wrote The Young Lions. Sophia Loren infuses the story with her own brand of sexual smoulder; also in the cast, in a supporting role, is Pernell Roberts for many years Adam Cartwright in the popular Bonanza series.
