Not the early version of the Warren Beatty film of the same title (that was 1941's Here Comes Mr Jordan) but a highly original romantic comedy, this was the great director Ernst Lubitsch's last film classic.

Don Ameche is suavely tongue in cheek as the late lothario telling Satan his sins to engineer himself into the 'Lower Regions' and Gene Tierney gorgeous as his much-beset wife.

Amazing Technicolor photography - fine even by 20th Century-Fox's high standards of the Forties.
