This Agatha Christie crime drama given a Transatlantic update certainly looks appetising, but on actual consumption is a trifle on the stodgy side. There's plenty to feast on for fans of this type of thriller-whodunit; a shoal of red herrings and a star cast, with Peter Ustinov reprising his Hercule Poirot role and two characters for an under-used Faye Dunaway. At the end of the day, though, the loss of period feel and style, given the film's contemporary setting, is to be regretted.
