Charms For An Easy Life This story of three generations of women in one family boasts strong performances from Gena Rowlands, Mimi Rogers and Susan May Pratt. Charlie Kate Birch (Rowlands) is a feisty herbal healer in Thirties North Carolina whose daughter (Rogers) and granddaughter (Pratt) carve their own individual way in the world. A funny and charming tale, if not as memorable as the similarly themed Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistlestop Cafe.

This film denotes the roles of women in society extremely well. It doesn't represent them as being stupid but remarkably clever. I was suprised with the resolution but it does add an effective twist to the film. All three women played their roles very well and should be commended. This is the best film I have seen in ages - a real tear jerker.
