Gene Hackman enjoys himself hugely as Monroe 'Eagle' Cole, who has just stepped down from the US presidency and arrives with his entourage to a tumultuous welcome as he returns to his holiday home in the small New England town of Mooseport.

Now, the town elders (who would not look out of place in an Ealing comedy) think it would be splendid if he would become mayor, but then local plumber Handy Harrison (Ray Romano of the sitcom on C4, Everyone Loves Raymond) also decides to run for office, so political battle is joined...

You will be grinning all the way as this amiable comedy spoofs West Wing-style political shenanigans and small-town life in general.

There's charming support, too, from Marcia Gay Harden and ER's Maura Tierney as the women involved with the rival candidates.
