Exclusive LOTR 2 Review
Sky Movies' man in LA has seen The Two Towers - here's what he thoughtSandro Monetti had a sneak peek at the new Lord of the Rings film, and he loved it.
He cites terrific acting; the most ferocious battle scenes ever put on film; and some well-received humour in the script:
"S
pectacular sequel The Two Towers is even better than the first Lord of the Rings movie.Full of darkness and danger and jam packed with breathtaking battles, this is epic in every sense.
There's no quiet beginning or setting the scene this time, it's straight into the action from the start and there's no let up for the next three hours.
Director Peter Jackson captures some of the most ferocious battle scenes ever put on film and puts his camera right among the blood and guts.
At the centre of the action is Viggo Mortensen's heroic character Aragorn who gets the most screen time and comes across as a Middle Earth Rambo but turns in some terrific acting too.
The plot sees good wizard Gandalf returning to help Frodo and the Fellowship destroy the magic ring before Dark Lord Sauron can use it to rule the world.
The good guys battle those grunting beastly orcs with no less than the survival of the human species at stake.
A big fault of the first film was the lack of humour but they've put some welcome jokey banter in this time among all the swords, sorcery and slaughter.
When the eagerly awaited movie was unveiled last night in Hollywood there was rapturous applause throughout the closing credits.
The Two Towers opens later this month - get set for serious excitement."
