Terminator star fuels rumours he could run for Governor

Arnold Schwarzenegger kept Californians guessing as to whether he'd be running for state governor after voters forced the present governor into a re-election.

ncing whether he intends to challenge Governor Gray Davis on 7 October.

Austrian-born Schwarzenegger - in Mexico City as part of a publicity tour for Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines - simply said, "I have no announcement to make," when asked if he'd run for governor.

"Once the whole Terminator promotion is over, we will be ready to answer that," he added.

Democrat Gray Davis is widely blamed for the US State's £23.6bn debt, and many Republicans want Arnie to stand against him.

If he goes on to win, he'll be following in actor Ronald Reagan's footsteps.
